Almost Heaven

I grew up on a housing estate in the suburb of Tokyo. A row of square concrete houses of the same shape lined up in the same scenery. On clear sunny days, these houses blinded my eyes with dazzling white reflection. A neat white space where there seems to be nothing else. They were photos from family albums - lakes, aquariums, boats, grasslands, and my mother, father, and brothers. I saw myself in some of them, but I didn't remember most of them. We enlarged the photos, cut them according to the pattern of the clothes, and sewed them together with other parts. We are far away from home, and we are trying to find our future home in the mishmash of disparate landscapes.

A camisole is made by cutting a cloth with family photos printed on it. It makes me feel like dipping my feet into the glowing river surface. This camisole is appropriate for such a new season.
